Another blink, another year flies by in a flash. Seriously, where did 2018 go?

Saying that, as we take our traditional look back at the last 12 months there’s a lot to talk about. Safe to say, it’s been quite a year. Here are a few of our highlights.



We like to think we saved the best ‘til last, as we launched our new brand ‘JGP’ in December 2018.

2019 will mark our 20th anniversary. As that landmark date approached, it was the perfect time to take a look at our brand and ensure that it properly represents who we are today. We’re incredibly proud of our heritage as the first-ever online jobs board dedicated to the UK public and not-for-profit sectors. Since its launch in 1999, jobsgopublic.com has played host to tens of thousands of vacancies and helped employers across the UK connect with a dedicated audience of job seekers.

Whilst our jobs board will always play a key role in our offering, those that work with us regularly will know that we have developed significantly – especially in the past few years. Our clients now have access to a range of advertising, marketing, resourcing and software solutions designed to help them attract, recruit and retain the very best talent.

With this in mind, we felt it was time we updated our brand to properly represent the organisation we’ve become. At the same time we’ve retained some of the history that makes us who we are. And so, ‘JGP’ was born! Our brand-new site, JGP.co.uk, now captures the range of ways that we can help our clients connect with new audiences, tell their stories and streamline their processes. We hope those that know us best will agree that it retains the best of what we’ve always stood for, whilst giving us a fresh look and feel.



Speaking of jobsgopublic.com, back in May we gave it a significant overhaul.

Our aim for jobsgopublic is to provide the best possible experience for candidates and employers. This drove our latest update, which gave it a brand-new look and also introduced a range of new features. These features make it easier for candidates to discover the opportunities best suited to them, such as improved search functionality and new enhancements. 

With further updates in the making, jobsgopublic.com is set to continue to improve candidate experience and help even more organisations reach the candidates they need.



We love working with ambitious organisations helping them connect with the candidates they need to drive them forward. The only better feeling is when those organisations are recognised by awards bodies like the PPMAs for the achievements of those campaigns.

Back in April, we were delighted to be in Gateshead to celebrate as Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service were presented with the PPMA award for Best Value for Money Recruitment Campaign.

The award recognised the achievements of their apprenticeship recruitment campaign. This saw them tackle a tight budget and even tighter timeframe to successfully recruit to 12 apprenticeship positions. 

This campaign was a pleasure to work on. We helped Buckinghamshire not only overcome the challenges mentioned above but also attract more female firefighters into the service.



2018 saw us take part in a diverse range of events – attending, exhibiting and hosting. Amongst these was our latest ‘Let’s Talk Digital’ event, hosted in partnership with PPMA and South West Councils. We also had the opportunity to be part of three LA Challenges, helping put aspiring managers to the test. Additionally, we co-hosted breakfast events with the Inhouse Recruitment Network in London and Manchester. As part of our partnership with the National Housing Federation, we also had the chance to speak at some fantastic events including the Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Conference in October.

We love the opportunity to be part of these kinds of events and we’re already planning the first of 2019. We look forward to seeing you all at one soon.



As ever, 2018 has seen us continue to conduct our own research in order to further support employers enhance their recruitment and better understand candidate behaviour.

The annual PPMA conference in April saw us launch our multi-generational research piece ‘Your Future Workforce’. For this, we asked: “How confident would you feel recruiting a Chief Executive and an Apprentice at the same time?”. The aim was to get employers to consider how the audience you’re targeting should influence your approach to recruitment.

We chose two distinctly different age groups (16-24s and 50+) and delved into what motivates them when looking for new opportunities. We also looked into the differences in ambitions and perspectives. Download your copy here.

So that was 2018 in a nutshell. We’re already planning some exciting things for the coming year. Hopefully, in 12 months we’ll be looking back on another great year. We want to give a massive thanks to everyone that got involved and Merry Christmas to all of you. See you all in 2019.
